Jared McCunnie is a Melbourne based, youth freelance composer. He specialises in larger ensemble writing, including Brass Band and Concert Band. Jared's awards include the 2022 River City Brass Composers Competition, 2019 Foden's Band Composition Competition, 2018 Kirklees Competition Award for Best Arrangement, 2017 Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Pizzicato Effect Composition Competition, and the 2017 Nock Deighton Challenge from the Ironbridge Gorge Brass Band Festival. Jared graduated from Monash University with High Distinction in his Bachelors of Music (Composition Specialisation), alongside a Bachelors of Laws (Honours). Jared is also a conductor, adjudicator and performer (Eb Bass and piano).
