DetailsCommissioned for Sunshine Community Brass' 90th Anniversary, 'A Journey with Sunshine' is a narrative piece following the history of Sunshine Community Band from Victoria, Australia. Starting as a band made up mainly of factory workers from the company Sunshine Harvest Works, Sunshine Community Brass has always held close ties to its community.
However, the band has been subject to its fair share of tragedies over the years. In 2006, their band hall was destroyed by the third major fire in the band’s history, destroying countless trophies and photos. However, through the coming together of their community, the band rebuilt themselves, going on to win the very next Victorian State Band Championships. In 2018, the band celebrated their 90 year history, rich with contest success, community spirit and high-level music making. 'A Journey with Sunshine' follows their tale, tribulations and all, sending them onwards to greater success in the future. Suitable for bands upwards of C Grade (3rd Section) standard. |
