I was fortunate enough to speak to Wellington Brass Band's 1st Trombone player Mark Davey after the band achieved its second competition success for 2018, winning the 2018 New Zealand Brass Band Championships A Grade. We spoke about what it takes to succeed at a high grade, his role conducting Hutt City Band in the B Grade and his thoughts on improving the New Zealand banding scene!

I was lucky enough to sit down with Black Dyke Brass Band's Bb Bass player Dave McGlynn to discuss his experiences in banding with some of the best bands in the world, as well as how he approaches playing tuba and how brass bands should be dealing with issues in banding.

We discussed how Parramatta City Brass Band rebounded from their 2017 Nationals result to their first State B Grade Championship victory under Jonathon Gatt, as well as how the band is preparing for the 2018 Nationals in Melbourne.
I had a chance to sit down with Daniel Van Bergen, conductor of current B Grade National Champions Boroondara Brass, and member of both the VBL Executive Committee and Music Advisory Board. We discussed his successes with Boroondara, changing the Australian grading system and introducing more banding competitions.
Veronica Boulton Interview: Marion City Band, The Importance of Community Music and Youth Banding11/7/2017 Veronica Boulton has had musical success as a performer and conductor across Victoria and South Australia, and is the current Musical Director of Marion City Band, who placed 3rd in the Australian National Band Championships 2017 in B Grade. I had the chance to speak to her about her conducting at Marion City Band, her passion for community music and her involvement in junior music programs.
