"Bittersweet" won the 2017 Nock Deighton Challenge from the Ironbridge Gorge Brass Band Festival for the best composition by a young composer. This work was originally written for the Victorian State Youth Brass Band, and sounds like an action film score, with its gradual crescendos and explosive choruses. 'Bittersweet' truly showcases a band's strong full sound, and the drum part has been described as "wicked". Approximately 3 minutes in length, 'Bittersweet' is a perfect tune for a Brass Band performance as a fun, but sophisticated number.
