'Emerging from Chrysalis' was commissioned in 2020 by the Melbourne Rainbow Band to celebrate the band's 25th Anniversary. The piece celebrates a coming of age, like a butterfly emerging from a cocoon.

Furthermore, 2020 also marked the 250th Anniversary since the birth of composer Ludwig van Beethoven. There are three famous Beethoven works quoted through the piece: some more obvious than others! Be sure to keep your ears peeled as the Beethoven quotes emerge from the music.
