DetailsThis setting of 'I Vow to Thee, My Country' was commissioned by the City of Ballarat Municipal Brass Band. Drawing its melody from one of Gustav Holst's most iconic melodies (Jupiter from The Planets suite), I Vow to Thee, My Country (also known as Thaxted) is a cherished British hymn and patriotic anthem.
In this arrangement for brass band, the arranger has merged Holst's moving composition with hints of Australiana, capturing the Australian banding movement's sense of patriotism and devotion to country. Duration - c. 4 min Difficulty - C Grade (3rd Section+) |
