Details

'Just Cause' confronts sanctimony in Western Society. An adamant belief, often unfounded, can be repeated until its creator cannot differentiate between fact and opinion. When asked to justify their opinion, the creator replies "Just cos..." without properly considering why they stand behind their viewpoint.

'Just Cause' was originally composed for the A4 Brass Quartet from Manchester, and received the Runner Up prize in the 2018 A4 Brass Quartet Composition Competition. This setting for brass band was commissioned by a consortium of Australian bands and bandspeople in early 2021.
