Written as part of a spontaneous series of 'crowd commissions' in 2020, 'Listen Closely' is a characterful solo for unaccompanied snare drum. A great way of introducing some extended techniques into a soloist's arsenal, 'Listen Closely' features finger tapping on the drum head, as well as cross sticks, rim clicks and rim shots. At about 3 minutes length, 'Listen Closely' is a great selection for soloist's repertoire to show off the various tone colours a snare drum can achieve.
