'Just Cause'2018 A4 Brass Quartet Composition Competition 2nd Prize
'Just Cause' for brass quartet (flugelhorn, tenor horn, baritone and euphonium) confronts sanctimony in Western Society. An adamant belief, often unfounded, can be repeated until its creator cannot differentiate between fact and opinion. When asked to justify their opinion, the creator replies "Just cos..." without properly considering why they stand behind their viewpoint. 'Sylvan Tryst'Written under the mentorship of David Chisholm, 'Sylvan Tryst' describes a secretive meeting of two does in a forest. 'Sylvan Tryst' was debuted by world renowned Ensemble Liaison in October 2016.

'Lust'Taking inspiration from Sylvano Bussotti’s 'Le passion selon sade' and Luciano Berio’s 'Sequenze' series, 'Lust' is a theatrical work illustrating the never-ending conflict between purity and seduction. An independent and internal battle, this duet for oboe and tenor trombone dramatises the lonely existence of abstinence against the argumentative and foreboding presence of the sin of lust.
Written under the mentorship of David Chisholm, 'Lust' pushes Jared's compositional technique further, with the duet being Jared's most detailed and precise notation to date. The work is certainly written for virtuosos, and Jared looks forward to finding two performers willing to dance with the devil! 'Quest'

Composed under the mentorship of Riccardo Vaglini, 'Quest' for Cello Trio is an exciting number that adds plenty of character to a chamber performance. Jared looks forward to debuting the work in the coming months! If you know someone who might be interested in performing the work, please get in contact below!
