DetailsThe Kelly Concerto, commissioned by Dr. Matthew van Emmerik, is Jared McCunnie's euphonium concerto inspired by the story, life and times of infamous Australian bushranger Ned Kelly. Dr Emmerik dedicates the work to the life and times of Keith Duncan Walter Ford OAM.
The Kelly Concerto was initially commissioned for euphonium soloist, optional narrator and brass band accompaniment for premiere at the 2023 International Tuba and Euphonium Conference at Arizona State University. The narration quotes extensively from Ned Kelly and his gang, most notably from Kelly's Jerilderie Letter. It is up to the audience to determine if Kelly is worthy of celebration as a hero or condemnation as a villain. Band Accompaniment Difficulty - 2nd Section+ (B Grade+) |
